Nvidia Tegra 2 gaining popularity, signed on as next-gen Galaxy Tab’s processor
So far, the Notion Ink Adam, the LG Optimus 2x and LG Star, the Toshiba AC100 Smart Companion, the Sony Ericsson PlayStation phone, and a few other small-form factor/mobile devices have shown the world that Nvidia’s Tegra 2 chipset has finally resolved its power efficiency issues, if only because of the widescale adoption.
Now, according to some industry analysts, Nvidia’s powerful dual-core SoC is being eagerly eyed by other major players, including Samsung. Apparently Samsung has already signed the Tegra 2 processor as the grunt behind the expected upcoming Galaxy Tab 2 (not officially announced), as well as for other mobile devices, including its future smartphones.

Perhaps more shocking is the news that Google has supposedly made the Tegra 2 part of the reference design for its yet to be released tablet operating system (Android 3.0, Honeycomb). This again seems less than likely, but if true, could spell a very happy future for the green giant, who apparently will be releasing the Nvidia Tegra 3 designs next year, as early as January.
