Nubia, the subsidiary brand of China's ZTE, has announced the launch of two new smartphones. The Nubia Z17S and the Nubia Z17 miniS bring new design, updated software experience, improved selfie cameras and cheaper price tag.

The Nubia Z17S is the premium of the two devices and enhances the nearly bezel-less design first seen on the Nubia Z11 from last year. The smartphone features a 5.73-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2040 x 1080 pixels and the company says it is as compact as a smartphone with a 5.2-inch display. Under the hood, the Z17S gets Snapdragon 835 chipset, coupled with an option for either 6GB or 8GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB internal storage. It also supports expandable storage up to 200GB. With the larger display and tiny borderless design, the smartphone drops the front mounted home button and moves the fingerprint sensor to the back.

Like the Honor 9i, the new Nubia Z17S also brings four cameras to the forefront. It features a dual rear camera setup with a combination of 12MP main sensor and 23MP secondary sensor. The primary 12MP camera offers dual-pixel autofocus and f/1.8 aperture. The secondary 23MP sensor has f/2.0 aperture and brings support for bokeh mode. The front camera has dual 5MP sensors with f/2.2 aperture and support for 80-degree wide angle selfies.

The Nubia Z17S runs Nubia UI5.1 based on Android 7.1 Nougat and supports the company's NeoVision 7.0 image engine. The smartphone is backed by a 3100mAh battery and can be recharged to 50 percent in 25 minutes. The smartphone is priced at 2,999 Yuan (around Rs 30,000) for the 6GB RAM variant and 3,999 Yuan (approximately Rs 40,000) for the 8GB RAM variant. It will go on sale starting October 19 in Blue or Black colours.

The Nubia Z17 miniS, as the name implies, is the upgrade to the original Z17 mini. The smartphone sports a 5.2-inch full HD display and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 653 chipset coupled with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage.

Like Z17S, the Nubia Z17 miniS also features four camera system. It sports dual 13MP rear cameras with f/2.2 aperture and NeoVision 7.0 software system. The dual front camera system pairs a 16MP f/2.0 lens with a secondary 5MP f/2.2 lens.

The Z17 miniS also runs nubia UI5.1 based on Android 7.1 Nougat and packs a 3200mAh battery. The smartphone houses a front mounted fingerprint sensor and is priced at 1,999 Yuan (around Rs 20,000) for Black Gold and Deep Blue colours. It is also available in Aegean Blue version, which will retail for 2,099 Yuan (around Rs 21,000) and all three colour options will be available for purchase starting October 19.
