Apple announced its Apple Intelligence first in June 2024 during its annual WWDC. The company then spoke about Apple Intelligence’s capabilities during the iPhone 16 series launch in September 2024. Now we have entered 2025, and Apple Intelligence features are being rolled out in a staged manner in different regions. One feature that caught everyone’s attention was the on-screen awareness feature for Siri and fans had been eagerly waiting for it. Earlier, it was expected that the feature would drop with the iOS 18.3 update, but now it seems like there’s going to be a further delay.
A MacRumors report has revealed that the on-screen awareness feature of Siri will not be dropped with the iOS 18.3 update. It is expected to come later on with the iOS 18.4 drop.
The iOS 18.3 beta version reveals that this update focuses majorly on minor updates. The most intriguing addition to this update is the robot vacuum integration in the Home app. This allows users to control their cleaning devices using Siri commands or automation. However, beyond minor tweaks like a redesigned Image Playground icon and bug fixes, this update doesn’t offer too much.
iOS 18.3 is expected to be released by late January or early February.
Post that, the iOS 18.4 update is expected to be released in April 2025. This update can offer significant updates to Apple Intelligence and Siri functionalities. On-screen awareness is also rumoured to come with iOS 18.4. This capability will allow Siri to better understand user context based on what’s displayed on the screen, enabling smarter, more precise interactions.
In addition to on-screen awareness, iOS 18.4 is likely to bring deeper per-app Siri controls and enhanced support for various languages, including English (India), Spanish, and Vietnamese.
