The Nokia 3310 feature phone is also tipped to make a comeback
Nokia is reportedly planning to relaunch smartphones with N-series branding. The Finnish company has filed a trademark for "NSERIES" with China's patent office. The filing hints at comeback of one of the most popular smartphone series.
The launch of NSERIES handset was further strengthened by a Baidu post. An image appeared on China's search engine revealing a device with NSERIES logo next to it. According to Nokiamob, the handset will feature a sixth generation Snapdragon chipset. The Baidu post also notes that the device has gone for production. The initial target is only for 5,00,000 units and it could be a China-exclusive. HMD Global announced its first Nokia-branded smartphone for China last month. Nokia 6 has surpassed demand and the company is reportedly unable to fulfill orders.
Further, Nokia is also tipped to introduce a successor to the 3310 feature phone. But, there aren't many details around this successor yet. The last N-series device from Nokia's stable was the N9, launched way back in 2011. HMD Global is expected to announce at least two new products at MWC on February 26.
One of the devices is likely to be 'Nokia D1C' with budget specifications and a sub-Rs 10,000 price tag. The other device is reportedly featuring up to 6GB RAM. The flagship codenamed P1 is likely to feature a metal design and be available after the Galaxy S8 launch. It is unclear whether Nokia intends to bring "NSERIES" devices to MWC, but the company is poised for a strong comeback.
