Nokia C1 rumoured to be an upcoming Android smartphone
Leaks suggest that Nokia will get back into the game and will announced an Android based smartphone following the footsteps of the recently announced N1 tablet.
Update: The image and the specs below are not leaked, but are a rendition from a few fans. Nonetheless we hope that this would turn into reality.
The world has been craving a high end Nokia device running on Android and while that has been a far-fetched dream so far, it seems that it may just come true. After the Microsoft acquisition, Nokia is not allowed to make its own smartphone until 2016, but there are no restrictions on using the branding on any other kind of mobile device.
This was evident when Nokia shocked everyone by announcing the Android 5.0 based Nokia N1 tablet which has the company's branding but is manufactured by Foxconn. This launch also proved that Nokia has plans for its future and is not going to go down without a fight.
A recent leak points out that Nokia might also launch a full fledged Android smartphone which will have a similar design and build as the N1 tablet. The first attempt at making an Android based smartphone was a disappointment as the Nokia X and X2 smartphones failed to impress consumers. The new leaked smartphone called C1, however could prove to be much better as rumours claim that it will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop with Nokia Z Launcher on top, a 5-inch display, an Intel chipset, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, an 8MP rear camera and 5MP front camera.
Just like the N1, Nokia could be venturing out to OEMs to manufacture the device and then brand them as Nokia devices. Not a bad plan, eh?
