No word on what phone Nokia may reveal but rumours point to a few contenders.

Nokia has announced that it will be hosting an event in London on May 14 to show off a brand new Windows Phone powered Lumia handset. The invitation sent to tech journalists and bloggers isn’t forthcoming about what handset to expect or any particulars of the event except for the venue and the date. However, that won’t stop us from speculating on what Lumia phone could be next in the pipeline for Nokia.

Earlier this month, photos of what was claimed to be the Lumia 950 was spotted by WPCentral. According to the source of the image, the Lumia 950 wields a display with 1280 x 768 pixels resolution and will have 2GB of RAM. The image of the phone itself looks touched up and we won’t be surprised if the Lumia 950 is nothing more than a pipe dream.

Another rumoured Lumia smartphone that could be a little more real is the Lumia 928, a CDMA version of the flagship Lumia 920. Information on the Lumia 928 was by a source who said that the phone would sport an all aluminium build and a Xenon flash to complement its 8MP camera. The phone is also expected to look more like the Lumia 720 than the Lumia 920.

The Lumia 1000’s existence has been talked about since the beginning of the year but there’s very little information on the device itself. The phone is expected to use the EOS 41MP camera for imaging (the same camera as on the Nokia Pureview 808) and will probably have a display with a resolution of 1280×768 pixels and a 2,000 mAh battery.

The final Nokia handset that could show itself on May 14 is the Lumia 719, however unlikely that may be since rumours say that the Lumia 719 is a budget phone and not really important enough to deserve its own launch event. The Lumia 719 is expected to have a 3.7-inch AMOLED display with Nokia’s Clear Black technology, a 1.4GHz processor, 512MB of RAM and a 5MP camera with HD video recording.

Now all that’s left to do is to wait and see what Nokia will actually reveal in London three weeks from now.
