Nokia and Airtel to launch exclusive Nokia Xpress browser in India
Airtel has partnered up with Nokia for a customized version of the Nokia Xpress browser for their Indian customers.
Nokia and Bharti Airtel will launch an exclusive version of the Nokia Xpress browser in India, which will feature access to Airtel’s premium services and popular content.
Like other versions of the Nokia Browser, the Xpress version which we first saw on the recently released Nokia 114 dual-SIM phone, compresses data in the cloud to ensure a smoother browsing experience on low bandwidth connections.
The Nokia Xpress browser claims up to 85 percent increase in efficiency when compared to the traditional mobile browser. It also claims to make the browsing experience faster and cheaper, which means that your data charge will be less.
Along with speed, the browser will optimize websites for use on the S40 and Asha devices. The browser will be made available to users in the coming weeks and Nokia-Airtel users will receive an automatic upgrade.
“More and more people are experiencing the Internet for the first time and we believe this initiative will further accelerate that. This is a first of its kind partnership for Nokia in India and we are sure that the customized Nokia Xpress Browser for Airtel consumers will provide them with a richer and more immersive mobile browsing experience,” said Viral Oza, Director Marketing, Nokia India.
“We are witnessing tremendous growth in mobile internet usage in India and are glad to be partnering with Nokia to offer our users a customized and enhanced browsing experience including one-click access to our premium content and services. We believe the superior browsing experience offered by Nokia Xpress Browser will accelerate mobile Internet adoption and engagement,” said N Rajaram, Chief Marketing Officer, Bharti Airtel.
