Nokia 9 PureView India launch imminent, official teaser make fun of fake camera samples
Nokia Mobile India’s official Facebook page has started teasing the upcoming launch of the Nokia 9 in India. The teaser also takes a jab at smartphone makers who have been caught faking camera samples.
Nokia Mobile India has started teasing the launch of the Nokia 9 in India. The phone with a penta-camera setup at the back was first launched at MWC 2019. The video teaser for the Nokia 9 flagship has appeared on Nokia Mobile India’s official Facebook Page with the words “Get ready to capture the most breathtaking pictures with the all new Nokia 9. Stay tuned!”
The video shows a bunch of camera samples from the Nokia 9 PureView and funnily enough, HMD Global takes a jab at all those smartphone makers who have recently been caught posting fake camera samples of their devices. While flashing Nokia 9’s photography skills, this text appears in the video – “Shot on Nokia 9…For Real.”
It’s ironic that Nokia is trying to take a dig at Huawei and Samsung, who have been in the news lately for faking camera samples of their phones. Back in the day, when Nokia was owned by Microsoft, the company found itself in thick soup for faking a video shot by a DSLR and passing it off for a Lumia 920 camera video.
Now that HMD Global runs Nokia smartphones, chances are the company is just having a little bit of good ol' competitive fun with the new Nokia 9 teaser.
Nevertheless, Nokia 9 is headed to India soon and that’s what’s important to note here. The phone is one of the most innovative we have seen from HMD Global’s stable till now. It took a long time to develop, but the five cameras at the back of the device have been designed with great effort. All the five cameras on the Nokia 9 PureView have a 12MP resolution and are made by Sony. Three of the five cameras are monochrome sensors and the other two are RGB sensors. There’s also an additional ToF depth sensor for additional depth information. A dual-tone LED flash completes the setup. The phone uses Light’s proprietary Lux Capacitor camera-control chip to manage the data from all the five sensors.
