Nokia 8 to get Android 8.0 Oreo update by the end of October: Report
HMD Global has reportedly confirmed that Nokia 8 will get Oreo update before the end of October. The smartphone was announced globally last month and it is priced at Rs 36,999 in India.
Nokia 8 might get Android 8.0 Oreo update by the end of October. Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global had teased Android 8.0 Oreo beta for Nokia 8 early this month and now a company executive has confirmed that the company is targeting to roll out the update by the end of October.
On the day Nokia 8 was launched in India, the company also held a local launch event in Taiwan. At the launch, HMD Global announced that the development of Android 8.0 Oreo for Nokia 8 is in full swing and will debut by the end of October if the testing goes well, reports Taiwan-based Vtechgraphy. Earlier this week, Mark Trundle, HMD Global's General Manager for Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia told GadgetGaul that Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 will get Oreo update before the end of 2017.
To recall, Nokia 8 was launched last month and it will go on sale starting October 14 in India at Rs 36,999. The Nokia 8 features a 5.3-inch Quad HD display, 4GB RAM and 64GB expandable storage. Powering the device is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. The Nokia 8 features dual rear camera setup with Carl Zeiss optics. It sports dual 12MP rear cameras with one RGB colour sensor and another monochrome sensor, similar to Huawei's P series.
It also has a 13MP front camera and supports dual shot mode allowing users to shoot simultaneously with both front and rear cameras. The handset runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat and is backed by a 3080mAh battery. Nokia 8 will be available in tempered blue, polished blue, silver and polished copper colour variants.
