HMD Global will be hosting its MWC launch at 4PM CET (8:30PM IST) on February 25. The company is expected to unveil its flagship Nokia 9 at the event, however, a report by NokiaPowerUser, citing sources, says the company could also be working on another flagship device dubbed the Nokia 8 Pro, which could be released by Q3 this year.
As per the report, the previously speculated Nokia 10 is actually the Nokia 8 Pro, which is currently in the works. Being a flagship device, it will reportedly be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and could be equipped with a penta-lens camera setup and an all glass body design. These were previously rumoured to be the highlights of the Nokia 10. The smartphone is also expected to be equipped with a rotating Zoom camera tech from Zeiss.
As per a previously leaked sketch of the now Nokia 8 Pro, its camera might house other lenses inside, which can be rotated for adjusting the focal length in combination with the main camera. The smartphone is tipped to feature a rear placed fingerprint scanner below the camera module and will purportedly feature a 3D glass back and front. The report also claims that it will feature a taller 18:9 display with an all glass design on the front and back, akin to the Nokia 7 Plus.
Speaking of the Nokia 7 Plus, it is expected to be the showstopper for the company at MWC 2018. Its leaked renders were recently shared by Evan Blass, revealing an 18:9 display aspect ratio with a curved screen. It is also seen with an Android One logo and vertically placed dual rear cameras on the back. Blass said that the mobile phone will be launched running on Android Oreo, under the Android One programme.
The smartphone is expected to feature a 6-inch FHD+ display and could be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset with 4GB RAM and 64GB on-board storage. On the rear its could equip a dual 12MP + 13MP camera and come with a 16MP front camera sensor. The handset is rumoured to be backed by a 3,000 mAh battery and support Quick Charge feature with a USB Type-C port.
