Nokia 7 with Bothie camera, Snapdragon 630 chipset and glass design launched

Nokia 7 brings Bothie camera from Nokia 8 to the mid-range smartphone segment. The handset features metal and glass design, 5.2-inch display and Snapdragon 630 chipset.

HMD Global, the licensee of Nokia brand, has added another smartphone to its 2017 lineup. The Finnish startup has announced the launch of Nokia 7, a mid-range smartphone exclusively for the Chinese market. The smartphone brings premium design and new Bothie camera feature to its mid-range lineup.

Nokia 7 continues with the design language seen on Nokia 6 and Nokia 8 but fuses metal and glass for a more premium look. The Nokia 7 is made out of a 7000 series aluminium chassis with glass back. The smartphone uses Corning's Gorilla Glass back and will be available in Gloss Black and Matte White colours.

In terms of specifications, the Nokia 7 features a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 2.5D curved glass on top. Powering the device is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 630 chipset coupled with an option for either 4GB or 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. There is also an option for expandable storage of up to 128GB via SD card slot.

The Nokia 7 features a 16MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and dual-tone flash. It sports a 5MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture and 84-degree wide field of view. HMD Global is also bringing Nokia 8's Bothie feature to Nokia 7 smartphone. With Bothie, Nokia 7 users can simultaneously shoot with both front and rear camera and it is also integrated with Facebook Live and YouTube Live. On the connectivity front, it gets WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS with A-GPS and Glonass, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack and USB Type-C port.

The Nokia 7 features a rear fingerprint sensor and runs Android Nougat with a future update to Oreo. The smartphone is backed by a 3000mAh battery and supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge feature. Nokia 7 is priced at 2,499 Yuan (around Rs 25,000) for the 4GB RAM variant and 2,699 Yuan (around Rs 27,000) for the 6GB RAM variant. The smartphone is available for pre-order on JD.com, Suning and T-Mall and will go on sale starting October 24.
