HMD Global announced its Nokia 6.1 smartphone in India last week and it goes on sale for the first time today. It was announced alongside the Nokia 5.1 Plus, which will be available in India at a later date. Both the smartphones run on the Android One platform and are bound to get timely updates and in terms of design, they both are the company’s first smartphone in India to come with a notched display. The Nokia 6.1 Plus features a dual-rear camera setup and comes with an all-glass rear panel.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus is available only in one variant of 4GB RAM/664GB internal storage and is priced at priced at Rs 15,999. It can be bought via Flipkart and the Nokia online shop and the smartphone manufacturer’s website states that the handsets will be shipped starting August 31. For launch offers, Airtel customers will receive Rs 1,800 instant cashback with the device and 240 GB data over 12 months when opting for the plans priced at Rs 199, Rs 249 and Rs 448. Those who buy the smartphone via Flipkart can opt for the No Cost EMI option starting from Rs 1,778 per month.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus features a 5.8-inch Full HD+ notched display with a 19:9 aspect ratio, which is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC and as mentioned above, is a part of Google’s Android One initiative and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo.
The dual-SIM device is backed by a 3060 mAh battery that also supports Quick Charge 3.0. For shutterbugs, the Nokia 6.1 Plus comes equipped with a 16MP + 5MP dual-rear camera setup with Zeiss lenses and on the front, it sports a 16 MP sensor. Both the cameras feature a f/2.0 aperture and support shooting in Bothie mode.
