Nokia 6: HMD says not following flash sales but the demand is high
The Nokia 6 will also be available in Philippines and Germany in the coming months, amid high demand for the device.
Nokia 6, the first Android smartphone built by HMD Global in license with Nokia, has reportedly been a hit in China. The smartphone has gone for sale on JD.com several times now, and every time the device was made available, it went out of stock in what appeared as flash sales. Now, HMD has clarified that it is not following a flash sale model, but simply can't keep up the demand.
The most popular method for online sales in China has been flash sale. It has been used by popular smartphone vendors like Xiaomi, Honor, Oppo, Vivo and others. Looking at the overwhelming demand for the Nokia 6, HMD says it is not able to keep up with the demand so far, and replenishing the stock has been a challenge.
"Actually we have been updating the inventory on JD.com more than 3 times but those were usually gone within minutes or hours, so that’s why you have the impression that we were doing flash sales. We will keep supply to JD for sure and now the Chinese New Year holiday is mostly over and everybody’s back for work, you can expect more supplies in the coming days and weeks," HMD said in a clarification issued to Nokiapoweruser.
Nokia 6 will be back in stock in China sometime soon. The company is also launching the smartphone in Philippines, with Germany on the charts as well. HMD is also expected to launch a few more Nokia-branded Android smartphones at Mobile World Congress later this month, and it remains to be seen by when the company's devices finally make it to India.
