Nokia 6, the China exclusive Android smartphone from HMD Global is already off to a steady start. The smartphone was up for pre-order from China's JD.com and it received over 2,50,000 registrations in the first 24 hours.
Nokia 6 is a mid-range smartphone priced at 1,699 Yuan (approximately Rs 16,990). According to Phonearena, every registration for Nokia 6 on JD.com costs $9 and will be deducted from final price of the device at the time of purchase. The smartphone will be available for purchase via flash sale.
Nokia 6 is the first device from a new alliance formed between HMD Global and FIH (a subsidiary of Foxconn Limited). HMD Global which holds exclusive license to brand and sell Nokia devices plans to launch at least 6-7 new devices this year and its flagship smartphone dubbed Nokia 8 might be announced at Mobile World Congress 2017 on February 26.
Nokia 6 features unibody metal design with a 5.5-inch full HD display upfront. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. There is a 16MP main camera with phase detection autofocus and an 8MP front camera with support for wide-angle selfies.
Nokia 6 was recently certified by TENAA with the model number TA-1000 and will only be available in black colour option. A silver model recently passed through Chinese certification site and could be made available at a later stage.
