Here are all the details about the price, availability, specs and features of the Nokia 5 mid-segment smartphone.

Pre-orders for the Nokia 5, HMD Globals’ offline exclusive smartphone, start today. The device will be available at a best price of Rs 12,899, and can be pre-booked through official Nokia, partner retail outlets. Although Nokia has confirmed the beginning of Nokia 5 pre-orders in India, the process of pre-booking and details of final availability are still unclear.

A report from NokiaPowerUser states that the Nokia 5 will be available to pre-book in select outlets across “key cities” including – Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad and Calicut. Word has it that the Nokia 5 will finally be made available on July 10, but it’s all conjecture at this point. We have contacted HMD Global for some clarity and will update our readers once we hear from the company.

HMD Global had launched the Nokia 5, alongside the Nokia 3, and Nokia 6 in India last month. The Nokia 5 sports a 5.2-inch HD display layered with Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. The mid-segment smartphone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 platform, coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage. The storage on the Nokia 5 can be expanded upto 256GB using a micro-SD card.

On the camera front, the Nokia 5 sports a 13MP rear shooter and an 8MP front-facing camera. The Nokia 5 is a 4G handset, and houses Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and a microUSB port as its various connectivity options. The entire package is backed by a 3000mAh battery. The phone promises the purest and most secure Android experience, along with reliable after-sales services.

Of the three smartphones launched by HMD Global, the Nokia 5, the Nokia 3 will not be available through ecommerce platforms like Flipkart or Amazon. Instead, Nokia has taken a smart offline-only approach with these handsets. Nokia has tied up with 80,000 plus retail stores and 400 exclusive distribution partners to retail the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 offline. This will give the company an upper hand against brands that have limited offline availability, especially at the below Rs 13,000 price point.

The Nokia 6, on the other hand, will be an online exclusive. Pre-bookings for the Nokia 6 will begin on July 14 and the handset will retail exclusively on Amazon India.

If you are planning to pre-book the Nokia 5, there’s something else you should know. HMD Global has partnered with Vodafone for some free data offers on the Nokia smartphones. On the Nokia 5 specifically, the telecom service provider is offering 5GB data at Rs 142 per month for 3 months. Vodafone's postpaid subscribers can avail a total of 5GB data per month for 3 consecutive billing cycles, if they have a minimum 1GB data pack active on their monthly rental plan.
