Nokia 5, the offline-centric smartphone from HMD Global went on sale via select retail channels on August 15. The smartphone has been listed by retailer Tata Cliq and Croma retail, hinting that the handset can be purchased online as well. The listing shows that the Nokia 5 is priced at Rs 14,199 and is retailing at a discounted price of Rs 12,499.
HMD Global had launched the Nokia 5 alongside the entry-level Nokia 3 and the mid-range Nokia 6 smartphone in June. The Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 were the company's offline-exclusive handsets while the Nokia 6 will be available from Amazon India starting August 23. Earlier, Croma had also listed the Nokia 3 online for Rs 9,499, a few days after it went on sale.
The Nokia 5 listing on both Tata Cliq and Croma shows that the smartphone is available for purchase and will ship within 4-7 days. The move could also be a way to encourage consumers to visit Croma's retail outlet and buy it directly from the store.
The Nokia 5 features an all-metal aluminium unibody design and is available online only in a matte black colour option. The handset was originally announced in matte black, tempered blue, copper and silver colour variants. In terms of specifications, it features a 5.2-inch 720p HD display and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 430 platform. It offers 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and supports expandable storage up to 128GB via SD card slot. The smartphone sports a 13MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture and phase detection autofocus along with an 8MP front camera with an 84-degree field of view.
The smartphone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat and HMD Global plans to release the Android O update once it becomes official from Google.
