EXCLUSIVE: Nokia 3310 will have full replacement guarantee, says HMD Global
The Nokia 3310 will be replaced, not repaired, if you have any issues within the first year of purchase.
The Nokia 3310 will be on a full replacement guarantee post launch. The device, which was announced at MWC, a few weeks ago, is expected in India sometime in the second half of 2017. Speaking to Digit, Pranav Shroff, Director, Product & Portfolio, HMD Global, said all Nokia feature phones have a replacement guarantee. Shroff explained that if a consumer walks into a customer center with problems on his/her Nokia feature phone, the company simply replaces it. He confirmed that this will apply to the Nokia 3310 as well.
“This one is not a rational decision, it’s something from the heart,” Shroff said, explaining the thought behind bringing back the Nokia 3310. He said HMD Global conducted various polls to find out which device consumers liked the most, and the 3310 won. “We call this a classic reborn. We wanted to bring it back and give it a modern take. We brought back the original blue and grey, but we also added the yellow and the warm red,” Shroff said.
“We have a thriving feature phone business, which never went away. We have a steady feature phone business that’s a huge market any way,” he added. “This is like the Nokia 222, but with a great design.” For smartphone users, Shroff suggests that the Nokia 3310 can be a great secondary device.
HMD Global unveiled the Nokia 3310 in Barcelona, touting its battery prowess. The phone, that has always been known for its battery life, supports 22 hours talk time in its new avataar, HMD claims. The company couldn’t confirm the prices of the product at the moment, but the Nokia 222 comparison could be an indication to what the prices would be. The Nokia 222 sells for just under Rs. 4,000 on online channels.
