HMD Global, the Finnish company with license to sell Nokia-branded mobile phones has already started selling the Nokia 3310 feature phone in India. At MWC, HMD confirmed that its first Nokia-branded Android smartphones – Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 – will become available in most markets by the end of June.
Nokia tweeted recently that the brand's comeback Android smartphones will become available before the end of Q2 2017. While HMD Global is yet to officially announce the launch date, Nokiapoweruser reports that Nokia's Android smartphones will become available in India around June 15. Nokia 3 will be the first smartphone to be available for retail, followed by Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. The report says all three models will be available for purchase before the end of June. Nokiapoweruser cites retail sources as saying that the handsets will be priced better than their international pricing.
To recall, HMD Global announced Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 as the company's entry-level and mid-range Android smartphones for global markets. The Nokia 3 is expected to be priced at Rs 10,000, while Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 may cost around Rs 15,000 and Rs 18,000 respectively. In terms of specifications, Nokia 6 is the most premium of the three smartphones with a 5.5-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 430 processor, aluminium unibody design, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The handset sports a 16MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera and is backed by a 3000mAh battery.
Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 are entry-level models with 5.2-inch and 5-inch 720p HD displays respectively. The handsets are powered by Snapdragon 430 and MediaTek MT6737 processors, coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. The Nokia 5 gets a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera, while the Nokia 3 offers an 8MP camera on the back and front. The Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 come with a 3000mAh and 2650mAh batteries respectively.
