Nokia 108 feature phone with 2MP camera announced for Rs. 2,000

Nokia to unveil the 108 feature phone, at a mere Rs.2,000. The phone sports a camera, FM Radio, MP3 player and more.

Finnish telecom giant Nokia has announced the 108, a super-affordable camera phone priced at $29 (Rs.1,800 approx). This is the first affordable Nokia phone to offer a camera within the price bracket.

The Nokia 108 offers much more for the given price in terms of features and specifications. The phone comes with a 1.8 inch QVGA (160X128) LCD display, and of-course a VGA camera with 2x zoom for clicking photos and taking videos. The phone also comes with Slam technology that allows you to share pictures with others easily.

The 108 supports dual-SIM, however it will also be available in a single-SIM variant. It has 4MB of RAM, supports expandable memory up to 32GB using a microSD card, Bluetooth, FM Radio, music player and a 950 mAh battery, which is claimed to last for 31 days on standby mode and good enough for up to 13.8 hours of talk time.

“There remains a huge segment of the global population that has yet to own a camera phone,” ” said Nokia’s Timo Toikkanen. “For the next billion people and beyond, we aim to bring new mobile experiences to ever-lower price points, and the Nokia 108 and Nokia 108 Dual SIM are great examples of this commitment.”

Both variants of the phone will be available in a plethora of new colours including cyan blue, red, yellow, along with the more traditional black and white.

The phone is scheduled for a Q4 2013 global launch, however, no current updates are available as to when the  phone will be launched in the Indian market.
