The 3D Touch functionality may be introduced in a later update to Android N.
After Apple launched its 3D Touch-enabled iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in 2015, many Android phone manufacturers have tried emulating the same. As a result, we have already seen a few phones that offer the feature, and more such devices are reportedly in the works. However, the problem with 3D Touch on Android is that it is not well implemented on the mobile OS, even though the functionality has been part of the original code since Android 2.0 Eclair.
It was earlier reported that Google might integrate 3D Touch natively on its upcoming Android N operating system. This also sparked rumours that the upcoming Nexus phones might house the new feature. However, according to a report by Recode, Google is expected to delay the same. The new report suggests that Google might bring 3D Touch in a later update of Android N. Google has so far declined to comment on the matter.
Chances are that Google may reveal its plans later next week at Google I/O 2016. It is also more than likely that Google will give everyone a deeper look of all the features that Android N might bring. The Android N preview has been available for some time now, for Nexus users only. We already know that Google will bring support for Vulkan graphics API, as well as enhanced VR capabilities.
