Nexus 6P: Another Bendgate in the making?

Updated on 03-Nov-2015
HIGHLIGHTS

The new flagship device by Google & Huawei can be seen bending badly in this YouTube video.

A YouTube video by JerryRigEverything has shown  that the Nexus 6P can easily bend with a little force applied using one's hands. The Nexus 6P is the new flagship made in collaboration by Huawei and Google. The smartphone features a 5.7 inch display and measures at 159.30 X 77.80 X 7.30 mm, with a weight of 178 grams. The Nexus 6P also has a full metal body with a small plastic section at the bottom, which fits in seemlessly with the design and is barely noticable.

The durability test done by JerryRigEverything also shows a comprehensive scratch test, done using various grades of tools. As per the YouTube tester, the Nexus 6P did not fare very well even though the phone sports Gorilla glass 4.  After administering the scratch test, the Nexus 6P's glass came apart at the touch of a finger. The YouTube uploader also administers a heat test on the Nexus 6P, but unfortunately a white hue forms on the screen of the device, from which it does not recover. Finally, when the bend test is administered on the Nexus 6P, it gives way easily, and the video shows how one can simply flex the phone using their hands.

Although this is disturbing news for the Nexus 6P and its fans, we cannot comment further unless we test the phone ourselves. So, stay tuned for the Digit review, where we will put the phone through a comprehensive strength test in our labs.
