Next iPhone version may feature DSLR-quality camera
According to Apple insider's John Gruber, the next iPhone version will be capable of taking DSLR quality images with a two-lens system.
Rumours about next iteration of iPhone have already started to flood the Internet. According to the latest leak/rumour, the next iPhone, dubbed as iPhone 7 or iPhone 6S, will be coming with major updates including two-lens system for delivering DSLR quality imagery.
Latest speculation comes from Apple insider John Gruber who an episode of The Talk Show podcast claimed: “The specific thing I heard is that next years camera might be the biggest camera jump ever. I don’t even know what sense this makes, but I’ve heard that it’s some kind of weird two-lens system where the back camera uses two lenses and it somehow takes it up into DSLR quality imagery.”
So far, Apple hasn't been chasing the mega pixels count. Its latest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus offer 8-megapixel sensors, though said to be better than the previous versions. There's no word on whether Apple will increase the number of mega pixels. Also read: Apple iPhone 6 Review
It's notable Sony, which provides iPhone camera sensors, has just announced a new camera sensor – Exmor RS IMX230 – that squeezes 21-megapixels into a 1/2.4-inch sized form factor. The main feature, however, is considered to be the built-in 192-point phase-detection autofocus that will deliver sharp images of fast moving objects.
Also, it has HDR for high res images and supports 4K videos. The new sensor is said to be on par with DSLRs. However, there's no word on whether the new sensor will be available for future iPhone models.
Apart from high quality imagery, the next iPhone version is rumoured to feature bigger screen size, and be more expensive – between $650 and $850.
