Samsung may show off a new Samsung Galaxy-exclusive chip during the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event

The chipset’s success will lead to the phasing out of Exynos chipsets

Samsung will also launch the Samsung Galaxy S23 at this event

Known tipster Ice Universe recently leaked a poster from the Samsung Columbia website that confirmed that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 series will be launched on February 1, during the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event. The poster had the tagline ‘Epic moments are on the coming,’

Now, a new leak from Ice Universe has revealed that T M Roh, the President of Mobile Experience Business, will also be launching a ‘Galaxy dedicated chip’ during the event.

Samsung could reveal a new chipset

In April, TM Roh talked about a dedicated chip being developed just for Galaxy handsets. This chipset was believed to be on par with the Google Tensor chip in terms of the AI capabilities that it would allow the brand to incorporate into the smartphone. At the moment, most premium smartphones from Samsung are powered by Exynos chips, while the brand also uses Snapdragon Socs for a few models in China and North America. According to insiders, though, all Samsung Galaxy S23 devices have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor that has been overclocked.

Samsung’s new chipset: what do we know?

Insiders have hinted that the high-end chipset being developed by Samsung will be using the second or third generation of 3nm GAA manufacturing technology. This technology is also used by Samsung Foundry. Apart from this, the features of the chipset have not been revealed. Samsung MX’s engineering team includes more than a thousand specialists and an Apple semiconductor expert. If the chip lets up being successful, we may see a gradual phasing out of the Exynos chipset.
