New Asus smartphone with 5.5-inch display, 2GB RAM spotted on GFXBench
Another variant of the ZenFone 3?
An unannounced Asus device with the model name Asus Z01B was spotted on GFXBench. As per the listing, the phone features a 5.5-inch Full HD display and is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm chipset with an Adreno 505 GPU. The processor will most likely be either a Snapdragon 430 or Snapdragon 435 SoC as these are the only Qualcomm SoCs use that particular GPU. Further, the phone offers 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. The phone also sports 13MP and 8MP cameras and runs Android Marshmallow v6.0.1.
It is speculated that this phone might be a cheaper variant of the ZenFone 3 that was launched a few months ago. The device already has two more expensive variants called the Deluxe and Ultra, and it would make sense for the company to launch a cheaper variant of the phone as well.
However, the Asus Z01B isn't the only variant of the ZenFone 3 that may soon be launched by the company. It was earlier reported that the Asus may launch a new variant of its flagship phone, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe. The new variant is tipped to be powered by a Snapdragon 821 SoC, which is yet to be unveiled by Qualcomm. It seems like Asus may be planning to emulate what it did with the ZenFone 2, and launch multiple versions of its new device.
