Mysterious Snapdragon 821 SoC spotted in new Asus leak
Leaked images of the promotion material for Zenfone 3 Deluxe suggest a new variant powered by the SD821 SoC
Leaked images alleged to be of the promotional material of the Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe suggest that the smartphone may be available in two variants. One powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, and the other by a Snapdragon 821 SoC that Qualcomm is yet to announce. A few days ago, it was reported that Asus may be planning to launch a Snapdragon 823 powered variant of the device in select markets such as the Philippines and India. It is quite possible that the Snapdragon 821 SoC may in fact be the Snapdragon 823.
The images posted by GizmoChina suggest that the SD821 chipset in the Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe may be clocked at 2.3GHz, while the SD820 variant is clocked at 2.15. Other than that, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference between the two devices. Both seem to feature Adreno 530 graphics and are manufactured using the 14nm process. The SD823 was earlier tipped to be just a higher clocked variant of the SD820. Other than the difference in SoC, the two ZenFone 3 variants seem to be exactly the same. The promotion material suggests that both variants will feature a 5.7-inch FHD displays and 23MP/8MP cameras. They may also offer up to 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
