MWC 2024: Energizer reveals phone with largest battery ever, but charging is a problem
HIGHLIGHTS

A new smartphone might drop soon in the market that could pack a 28,000 mAh battery.

Avenir Telecom is working on an Android smartphone called the Energizer Hard Case P28K.

However, it only supports 33-watt fast charging.

Whenever we buy a new smartphone or any device for that matter, battery size does matter a lot, at least for me. Currently, 4,000-5,000 mAh smartphone batteries are the most sought-after and can even last you longer. But what if I told you that a new smartphone might drop soon in the market that could pack a 28,000 mAh battery? I can only imagine the size and weight of this smartphone. Avenir Telecom is working on an Android smartphone called the Energizer Hard Case P28K and it will pack a massive 28,000 mAh battery cell.

This 28,000 mAh battery will last you for almost a week. How convenient will that be? It also packs an IP69 rating because of its rugged design to help save you from the elements. Now let’s talk numbers. The Energizer will give you a talk time of 122 hours and a standby time of a crazy 2252 hours. However, it only supports 33-watt fast charging, which is very low for this large battery. On an estimate, a 5000mAh battery with 33-watt fast charging takes approximately 1-1.5 hours. It could take hours at length and if you’re impatient like me, you’ll never be able to fully charge it.

Now except for the battery pack, the device isn’t too fancy. Hearing of this huge battery pack only brings its size and weight to my head. And yes, it is obviously very very thick. It weighs about 570g, you can think of this as three iPhone 15 Pros stacked together. That surely gets so uncomfortable to hold.

The company has majorly focused on the battery and the other specs aren’t really that impressive. For display, you get a 6.78” LCD panel. It runs on a MediaTek MT6789 chipset and offers 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The smartphone comes pre-installed with Android 14. The company says that they’ve built this device for those who need endurance and durability in their smartphones and can compromise on specs.

Coming to the price point, once the device goes live it will cost around €249.99 which is about ₹22,000.
