Moto G5 Plus launching in India on March 15

Moto G5 Plus features 5.2-inch display and a metal design similar to that of Moto Z lineup. The smartphone also offers improvement in the imaging department with new 12MP sensor with dual-pixel autofocus

Moto G5 Plus, the latest smartphone from Lenovo Moto will launch in India on March 15. Motorola India has tweeted about the upcoming launch which suggests the company is only bringing the G5 Plus and not the lower-end G5 variant.

Lenovo announced Moto G5 and G5 Plus at company's Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona. With G5 and G5 Plus, Motorola is replacing outdated plastic design with new metal unibody casing. The smartphones now combine the design of Moto M and Moto Z series while retaining the same budget price tag. For Lenovo Moto group, Moto G series has been the best-selling smartphone in the budget category. Earlier rumours hinted at the company bringing the devices soon after its launch and this new teaser just confirms that Moto is serious about Indian market.

The Moto G5 features a 5-inch LCD display while G5 Plus gets a 5.2-inch display. Both the panels offer full HD resolution but are far more compact than its predecessors. Moto G5 and G5 Plus differ in terms of internals with G5 Plus getting better overall specifications.

Moto G5 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset while G5 Plus get power-efficient Snapdragon 625. The G5 features a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and phase detection autofocus. The G5 Plus, however, takes the camera game to a whole new level with its 12MP f/1.7 Sony sensor and support for dual-pixel autofocus. Moto G5 Plus can also record videos in 4K while G5 only supports 1080p videos. Both the handsets come with 5MP front camera for selfies.

Moto G5 and G5 Plus comes with option for 2 or 4GB RAM but G5 Plus gets 32 or 64GB storage while G5 only offers 16 or 32GB storage. Moto G5 and G5 Plus run Android 7.0 Nougat with support for Google Assistant. Motorola has also added few useful software elements like alway-on display and gesture support. The smartphone also feature a front-mounted fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button.

Moto G5 and G5 Plus will be available in gold and gray colour options. Moto G5 is priced at €199 (approximately Rs 14,000) while G5 Plus will start at $229 (approximately Rs 15,500). It is clear that Moto G5 Plus is a far better smartphone of the two and company might only launch the G5 Plus at a competitive pricing.
