Motorola to bring back Play variants in G and E series smartphones next year: Leak
Famed leakster Evan Blass has tweeted that Lenovo owned Moto will launch the G6 Play along with the G6 and G6 Plus, as well as the Moto E5 Play along with the E5 and E5 Plus
If famed leakster Evan Blass is to be believed, then Motorola will revive the Play versions of its E and G smartphone series in 2018. For those that remember, we last saw the Moto Play series in 2016 and it was absent from Moto’s smartphone line-up in 2017. Evan Blass tweets that we will see the Moto E5 Play along with the Moto E5, and E5 Plus, as well as the Moto G6 Play alongside the Moto G6, and G6 Plus in 2018.
In addition to the E5 series and G6 series, Blass shared a logo of what appears to be a successor to the Moto X4 which will be the Moto X5. The Moto X5 could be destined for Android One. The Moto X4 is an Android One smartphone in some markets, but in India the device houses Android Nougat. Motorola’s UI is almost stock Android with a few nifty features thrown into the Mix. It is expected that the Moto X5 will be a mid-range smartphone.
We would suggest you take these rumours with a pinch of salt even though Evan Blass is usually on the money with his leaks. We are looking forward to MWC 2018 where we think these smartphones may be announced officially.
Next year will see the return of Play to Lenovo's Moto G lineup in the form of the Moto G6 Play (alongside the G6 and G6 Plus).
