Motorola Moto X40 could launch with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC in December 2022

The smartphone will also have an IP68 rating.

The launch date of this smartphone has not been revealed yet.

Motorola has begun teasing the specifications of the Motorola Moto X40, which means that it will soon announce the launch date of the smartphone as well. Lenovo executive Chen Jin revealed some of the specifications of the Motorola Moto X40 on Weibo. For starters, the upcoming smartphone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It will also have an IP68 rating, which indicates dust and water resistance. 

Confirming the same, Jin said “The moto X40 this time supports IP68 waterproofing. We would like to call it the SUV in the mobile phone. December, get ready to go!”

Motorola Moto X40 specifications

Other Motorola Moto X40 specifications have been leaked as part of a recent TENNA listing. The smartphone will span 161.3×73.9×8.5-mm and will weigh 196 grams. The phone is said to sport a 6.67-inch OLED display with 1080×2400 resolution. The display will also be equipped with 10-bit colour and an under-screen fingerprint scanner. The Motorola Moto X40 will also come with a triple rear camera setup. The setup could include 50MP+50MP+12MP lenses with support for optical zoom. 

As confirmed by Chen Jin, the Motorola Moto X40 will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. This chipset is touted to be 46% more power efficient than its predecessor, while also being 35% faster. Jin also shared the AnTuTu benchmark for this chipset, which had a score of 1,312,901.

The Motorola Moto X40 will also have an IP68 rating, which means that the smartphones can be submerged up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. It is also protected from dust to some extent.

Rumours indicate that the smartphone will also have a 4,950mAh or 4,450mAh battery capacity. It is said to be available in 3 variants with 8GB, 12GB, and 18GB RAM options coupled with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB internal storage options.
