The Motorola Moto G7 series was introduced back in February 2019, and within seven months we have started getting information about the Moto G8. The Motorola Moto G8 is not expected to be launched this year, but we have already seen some alleged live images of the Moto G8. Now, the Motorola Moto G8 Play has finally showed up.
XDA-Developers reports that a “Play” model has been spotted on FCC, revealing the dimensions of the phone. The Motorola Moto G8 Play carries the model name of XT2015-2, XT2016-1, or XT2016-2 depending on the market. The Play device’s listing shows a diagonal of 169mm. Hence, it is expected to feature a 6.65-inch display, with HD+ (1520×720 pixels resolution) screen. It is tipped to have an aspect ratio of 19:9.
The Motorola Moto G8 Play is reported to being prototyped on top of the MediaTek MT6771 platform, which means that it could ship with either the MediaTek Helio P60 or the MediaTek Helio P70. It can come with either 3GB or 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. The smartphone could pack a 4,000mAh battery. It might launch with Android 9 Pie onboard.
We don’t have much information about the optics of the Motorola Moto G8 Play. The phone is still in early stages of development. Hence, we don’t know about any new software features that are planned for the product.
The Motorola Moto G8 Play could come with “NFC, dual SIM, both, or neither,” says the report. Further, “Motorola is preparing an “Iron” and a “Cosmo” color for the device, and we’re seeing evidence that the phone is planned for Brazil, Latin America, Asia Pacific countries, and Europe.”
Previously, alleged images of Motorola Moto G8 had appeared online. They showed the phone without any notch, thin side bezels and a considerable chin with Motorola branding on it. You can read more about it here.
