Motorola has unveiled the Moto G42 – the company’s latest smartphone – in India today. The company revealed the price of the phone on Flipkart today. The Moto G42 is priced at ₹13,999 and comes touting features such as a PMMA acrylic rear panel, triple rear cameras, an AMOLED display, a 5,000 mAh battery and a 20 W charger. The phone was launched in Brazil last month and is the successor to the Moto G41 launched last year. The company had been hyping up the launch of the device on their social platforms over the past few weeks.

Motorola Moto G42: Price and Availability

The Motorola Moto G42 is priced at ₹13,999 for the lone 4 GB RAM + 64 GB internal storage variant. Motorola has provided a couple of offers as well, so interested users can grab the device at a lower price point. Holders of SBI cards will get a ₹1,000 discount, effectively making the price ₹12,999. There are also some benefits for Jio users worth ₹2,549 (applicable on the ₹419 plan).

The Motorola Moto G42 will be available in two colourways – Atlantic Green and Metallic Rose. The phone will be available for purchase on Flipkart and leading retail stores following the launch.

Motorola Moto G42: Specifications and Features

Motorola has made it a point to flaunt the Moto G42’s design and has even stated that it comes with the “most stylish design in the segment”. The phone features a PMMA acrylic material on the rear panel which has a glass finish. The camera module or island is made out of aluminium; giving it a premium look. The phone weighs 174 g and is 8.26 mm thick. It is one of the few phones in this price segment to feature an IP52 dust and water resistance rating.

It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC – a 6 nm SoC with four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.9 GHz. This is coupled with 4 GB LPDRR4x RAM and 64 GB internal storage. The phone supports expandable memory via a microSD card up to 1 TB. The phone comes with Android 12 out of the box with Near Stock Android experience with Motorola’s MyUX skin. Users get an assured update to Android 13 and 3 years of guaranteed security updates. 

The Moto G42 houses a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and 700 nits peak brightness. The refresh rate is capped at 60 Hz though. It features stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support as well. For optics, the Moto G42 comes packing a 50 MP primary lens, an 8 MP ultrawide + depth shooter, and a 2 MP macro camera. You also get a 16 MP selfie shooter.

As for battery life, the Moto G42 houses a sizable 5,000 mAh cell with a 20 W TurboPower charger in the box. The phone supports 18 W fast charging. The phone also comes with carrier aggregation, NFC, FM radio, and dual noise cancellation for calls.
