Motorola i1 – a solid push-to-talk Android-powered smartphone – unveiled
Motorola i1 is the company’s first Android-based smartphone, and runs on the Integrated Digital Enhanced Network (iDEN). iDEN provides its users the benefits of trunked radio and cellular telephone. This kind of technology enables users to connect to unlimited talk-groups virtually without the need to change frequencies. The resulting effect is increased efficiency and performance. That gives enough reasons for Motorola i1 being popularly called as a ‘walkie-talkie’.
Motorola i1 has a sleek and attractive design with a 3.1” touchscreen made of Touch Monster Glass. It carries the most sought after features of a modern smartphone with Wi-Fi, Push-To-Talk (method of conversing using a momentary button to switch from voice reception mode to transmit mode) and also conforms to Military 810F Standards for handling adverse weather conditions, with shock-proof, dust-proof and rain-proof body armor. It has a rubber insulation on the sides to provide basic protection against scratches and absorb minor impact shocks adding to durability. It has a fine chrome and lustrous finish that adds to the sleek styling and design. The Swype keyboard promises to augur well with Opera Mini (for browsing needs on 2G Nextel network) and the full webKit browser (to engage in Wi-Fi activity from the home screen). Although, the lack of 3G support is disappointing, Motorola still packs a punch into its lightweight 130 gram package. Check out its complete specifications below:
