Motorola Edge 40, OnePlus 11R and Google Pixel 7a are currently three quite good phones to buy at the ₹40,000 price point, after the Motorola Edge 40 entered the Indian market. Google Pixel 7a was released recently while the OnePlus 11R hit the market in February. Let’s explore which ₹40,000 phone contender stands the best chance in the category.

The Motorola Edge 40 flaunts a P-OLED 6.55 inches screen with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution featuring a 144Hz refresh rate supporting HDR10+ with 1200 nits brightness. The smartphone is available in the variants of Nebula Green, Lunar Blue, Eclipse Black, and Viva Magenta.
OnePlus 11R sports a Fluid AMOLED 6.74 inches display with 1240 x 2772 pixels resolution with 1B colours and a 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone supports HDR10+ with 1450 nits and is available in two variants Galactic Silver and Sonic Black.
Google Pixel 7a features an OLED 6.1 inches touchscreen with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution supporting HDR with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The device is available in four colours Charcoal, Snow, Sea and Coral. The OnePlus 11R from the looks of it sports better resolution of 1240 x 2772 pixels with 1B colours, has a bigger screen display of 6.74 inches and flaunts 1450 nits brightness.

However, the Motorola Edge 40 features a whopping 144Hz refresh rate with P-OLED screen and 1200 nits brightness which might offer a seamless and smooth screen movement.

The Motorola Edge 40 features a dual camera setup 50 MP + 13 MP and flaunts a 32 MP front camera featuring Dual-LED flash with HDR and panorama support.
The OnePlus 11R sports a triple camera system 50 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP and features a 16 MP front camera with LED flash supporting HDR and panorama.
The Google Pixel 7a flaunts dual camera setup 64 MP and 13 MP with Dual-LED flash, Pixel Shift, Auto-HDR and panorama support along with 13 MP front camera.
The Motorola Edge 40 and the OnePlus 11R feature multi-directional autofocus function whereas the Google Pixel 7a features a Dual Pixel autofocus function. All the phones use an ultrawide lens with 120° however, the OnePlus 11R has 8 MP while the other two flaunt 13 MP. From the looks of it the Motorola Edge 40 offers better video functionality 4K@30fps, 1080p@30/60/120fps, 720p@960fps and HDR10 support with gyro-EIS.
In addition, the Motorola Edge 40 flaunts a 32 MP front camera with 4K@30fps, 1080p@30/120fps video functionality. While the OnePlus 11R offers 1080p@30/60/240fps without HDR10 support. Lastly the Google Pixel 7a offers 4K@30/60fps, 1080p@30/60/120/240fps, and OIS.

Motorola Edge 40 offers a 4400 mAh battery capacity with 68W wired and 15W wireless charging.
The OnePlus 11R holds 5000 mAh battery capacity alongside 100W wired charging.
Google Pixel 7a supports 4385 mAh battery capacity 18W wired, PD3.0 and 7.5W wireless charging.
While Google Pixel 7a offers a larger battery capacity 4400 mAh on paper than Motorola Edge 40, the wired and wireless charging provided by Motorola Edge 40, 68W wired and 15W wireless, from the looks of it might support faster charging. But again these are just speculations. On the contrary, with faster wired charging and battery capacity the OnePlus 11R might hold a good battery setup.

Motorola Edge 40 offers one variant of memory for two storage options: 128GB storage with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage with 8GB RAM.
The OnePlus 11R also puts out two variant storage and memory options: 128GB of storage with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage and 16GB RAM.
Google Pixel 7a only offers one variant of memory for 128GB of storage 8GB RAM.
While Google Pixel 7a and Motorola Edge 40 are powered by only 8GB RAM, OnePlus 11R offers 16GB with only 256GB of storage. However, Motorola Edge 40 offers 8GB RAM in two options of storage; 128GB and 256GB of storage.

Motorola Edge 40 is powered by Android 13 alongwith OxygenOS 13 and operates on the chipset Mediatek Dimensity 8020 (6nm) with Mali-G77 MC9 GPU and an octa core CPU.
The OnePlus 11R operates on Android 13 alongwith OxygenOS 13 and is run by Qualcomm SM8475 Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (4 nm). The smartphone is powered by an octa-core CPU with Adreno 730 GPU.
Google Pixel 7a runs on Android 13 and is powered by Google Tensor G2 (5 nm). The smartphone operates on an octa core processor with Mali-G710 MP7.
