Motorola drops XT800 Glam prices: little too late to save the dual SIM Android phone

Updated on 11-Apr-2011

Motorola should have guessed it had priced the Glam XT800 way too high at Rs. 31,999, even if it was a unique offering, being the only dual-SIM Android phone by a major manufacturer in the market. Its underpowered 550MHz processor and outdated Android 2.1 OS never justified the investment, and still doesn’t even at its new price.

[RELATED_ARTICLE]The Motorola Glam XT800 is now available for Rs. 23,990 (MRP), a figure that will vary on the streets. At the new price, the dual SIM premium is still way too much – more than Rs. 5,000, even compared to other phones with 800MHz processors and 5MP cameras in the market.

If Motorola had launched the phone at this price, there would definitely have been more takers, and the phone might even have created a positive impact with its unique offering in the market. But, it is only downhill for the Glam from here on. A rumoured slightly better endowed Motorola XT800 is apparently in the pipeline to India, and let us hope Motorola positions it correctly this time.
