Fans of the Moto Z in India may have to wait till October 2016, before they get their hands on the smartphone. Aymar de Lencquesaing, Chairman and President of Motorola Mobility, told Gadgets 360 that the smartphone will come to India by September-October 2016. This was expected, as Motorola has already announced the phone to be globally available after September, but the time frame for its launch in India was unknown. Further, Lencquesaing said that the Moto Mods may be priced in the range of $50 to $200 (approx. Rs. 3,300 to Rs. 13,400) depending on the module. However, the price could be higher after duties and other costs.
The Moto Z and the Moto Z Force feature 5.5-inch QHD displays, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC with 4GB of RAM. However, the Moto Z Force features better cameras and the second generation of the company’s patented ShatterShield display technology, which was first seen on the Moto X Force. The Moto Z Force also sports a larger battery cell.
But the highlight of the Moto Z isn’t the phone itself, but rather, the modular back covers called Moto Mods. The company launched three back covers along with the phone. One is an extra battery pack that extends the battery life of the device, while another is a projector mod, which the company says can project up to a distance of 70 inches. The final mod adds Dolby Atmos audio capabilities to the phone.
