Motorola has sent out invites to the press for the launch event of the Moto X phone. The smartphone will be unveiled in New York City.

The Motorola X phone, or the Moto X, is like that piece of chocolate that’s just out of your reach, but not for long. Motorola has sent out press invites for the launch of the Moto X smartphone. The device will be unveiled on August 1 to the public. The event will take place from 8pm to 1am EST. The invite sent out to the press shows off the back of a white Moto X phone along with what appears to be a party!!

It looks like the entertainment at the launch event will be taken care off by DJ Kaskade, M4SONIC, Thank You X, Chef Marc Forgione, SOL REPUBLIC, and the comedy team JASH.

One interesting thing to take notice off is that there is a white Moto X phone in the top left corner of the invite looks like the same smartphone Google’s Eric Schmidt was seen using some time ago.

As it has become a trend with smartphones these days, we have seen quite a few leaks about the Motorola X smartphone in the past. In terms of its specifications, the Moto X phone is expected to have a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 720×1184 pixels. There’s a 2.1 megapixel front facing camera for HD quality video conferencing and a 10.5 megapixel camera on the back for capturing photos worth keeping. There’s on-board Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity, and to power it all, a dual-core version of the Snapdragon S4 Pro (the Qualcomm MSM8960T chipset seen in the Sony Xperia SP) clocked at 1.7GHz, along with 2GB of RAM. 16GB of built-in storage will reportedly also be available.

There was also an advertisement posted by Canadian carrier Rogers Wireless that showcases features of the smartphone. Some of the new features of the smartphone showcased in the video are as follows. The smartphone will have an always-on microphone so you can talk to your phone whenever you like without touching it and it will respond to you.

Rather than an LED light blinking in different colours to showcase notifications, as it does on the Nexus, the Moto X phone will showcase the notifications with the clock on the display so you know exactly what type of notification it is. You can also launch the camera by simply twisting your wrist twice.

First there was the physical shutter button that was removed from smartphones and now the onscreen button too is living its last days. On the Moto X phone, you can click a picture by simply tapping on the display. If you want to take multiple consecutive shots, you can do so by long pressing on the display. No onscreen shutter button.
