Moto X 2015 rumoured to be powered by Snapdragon 810 SoC
Motorola may choose Snapdragon 810 processor instead of the 808 processor. It may be recalled Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 was criticised for reported overheating issues.
More information about Motorola's next gen Moto X (2015) have emerged. According to the latest round of rumours, the Moto X 2015 will be powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor. Earlier it was rumoured the phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 808.
Qualcomm has already drawn flak for the reported overheating issues with the 810 processor. Samsung had reportedly chosen its Exynos processor instead of the 810 for its latest flagship smartphone Galaxy S6. However, Qualcomm has denied the 810 suffers overheating. “The rumours are rubbish, there was not an overheating problem with the Snapdragon 810 in commercial devices,” Qualcomm’s VP of marketing Tim McDonough had told Forbes. “If that’s true, which we’re saying it is, why was there so much rumour? Why was someone spreading false information about the 810? Our point of view is that those rumours happened with the LG G Flex 2 and Qualcomm 810 being first to market with the premium-tier application processor. Then somebody decided to put out some false rumours about that, which is unfortunate but sometimes that’s how business is done. That has forced us to spend a lot of time addressing the false rumours.”
As far as the 808 goes, the SoC features Dual-core ARM Cortex A57 and quad-core A53 with 64-bit, support for 2560×1600 on-device display concurrent with 4K Ultra HD output to HDTV, 1080p and 4K external displays supported – which is likely to cover a slew of high end phones. LG's G4 uses the 808 processor.
Specifications of the Motorola Moto X 2015 have already leaked. Last week, reports said the phone will feature a 5.64-inch display with 1440×2560 resolution at 560 dpi. Other rumoured features of the phone include Android 5.1.1 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storageType C USB port and stereo speakers and back cover options in plastic, wood and leather. It is supposed to be powered by a 3280mAh battery.
