Motorola is gearing up for a modular future

Motorola is introducing two new Moto Mods for its modular Moto Z and Moto Z Play smartphones. The latest Moto Mods include a Mophie Juice Pack battery and a car dock from Incipio.

Mophie Juice Pack battery Mod is not the first battery Mod but it is larger than the previous offering. It packs a 3000mAh battery that offers 60 percent more battery life and also has a status indicator light. The Mod also comes with a USB Type-C port so that the Mod can be charged independently.

Incipio's Car Dock on the other hand makes it easy to mount a Moto Z in a car. Once connected, the Mod allows for charging and audio playback at the same time. The dock can clip into the car's air conditioning vent and the phone can be mounted horizontally or vertically. Once the phone is docked, it automatically launches Android Auto for safer driving interface.

According to The Verge, Moto plans to ship these new Mods in the very near future and it also plans to launch more mods in 2017. Yesterday, Motorola CEO announced company's plan to introduce a Project Tango based Mod for Moto Z lineup.

Since they are Mods and they are premium, Mophie and Incipio MotoMods don't come cheap. Mophie Juice Pack Mod is priced at $79.99 while the Incipio Car Dock is priced at $64.99.
