Moto G6, Moto G6 Play launching in India on June 4, company teases Amazon and Flipkart sales
The Moto G6 will be an Amazon exclusive smartphone, while the Moto G6 Play will be available through Flipkart. Both devices will also be be sold through Moto Hubs in India.
Motorola is finally bringing its new ‘G’ series smartphones to India. Lenovo-owned Moto will be launching the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play in India on June 4 and the company has confirmed this through a save-the-date announcement sent out to media outlets including Digit.
Further, Moto has confirmed that the Moto G6 will be an Amazon exclusive smartphone, while the Moto G6 Play will be available on Flipkart. Apart from their online sales, the two new Moto ‘G’ series phones will also be sold through Moto Hubs across the country.
The Moto G6 and G6 Play were launched back in April. The Moto G6 features a 5.7-inch Full HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 platform, same as the newly launched Samsung Galaxy A6+ and Galaxy J8. The Moto G6 is available globally in two variants – 3GB RAM/32GB storage and 4GB RAM/64GB ROM. For its photography skills, the G6 features a dual-rear camera setup with 12MP+5MP cameras and an f/1.8 aperture lens at the back. At the front is an 8MP camera. The device is equipped with a 3000mAh battery and Moto’s TurboPower fast charging technology. It features p2i-rated water-repellent coating which protects it from splashes and light rain.
The Moto G6 Play also features a 5.7-inch HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the Snapdragon 427 SoC and is available in two variants – 2GB RAM/16GB storage and 3GB RAM/32GB ROM. The Moto G6 Play features a single 13MP camera with PDAF and f/2.0 aperture lens at the back, while at the front it houses a 5MP lens. The smartphone is equipped with a 4000mAh battery with a 10W fast charger. Just like the G6, the G6 Play also features p2i-rated water-repellent coating protects it from splashes and light rain.
At the time of its global unveil, Moto had also launched the Moto G6 Plus, which features a 5.9-inch Full HD+ display and an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC and comes with a dual-rear camera setup with 12MP+5MP lenses at the back. At the front is an 8MP camera. The device is equipped with a 3200mAh battery which works with the company’s TurboPower fast charging technology. However, Moto will not be launching the Moto G6 Plus at this time in India. The save-the-date shared by the company has no mention of the higher-end phone.
The Moto G6 is priced at a starting MSRP of $249 (approx Rs 16,953), while The Moto G6 Play starts at an MSRP of $199 (approx Rs 13,549). Indian prices for the devices are not known yet.
