Moto G Play with Snapdragon 410 SoC, 2GB RAM launched at Rs. 8,999
The phone will be exclusively available on Amazon from September 6.
The Moto G Play has been launched in India at Rs 8,999. Like the Moto G4, the G Play will be available exclusively via Amazon. The device sports a 5-inch HD display and is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC with 2GB of RAM. The phone also comes with a 2800mAh battery, and Moto claims that the in-box fast charger can offer five hours of backup with only 15 minutes of charging. At the back is an 8MP camera with f/2.2 aperture lens and Full HD video recording capability at 30fps, while at the front is a 5MP camera. The device runs on Android Marshmallow v6.0.1, and offers 16GB of native storage that can be expanded by up to 128GB. It also features a water-repellent nano-coating that protects the device from occasional splashes.
The Moto G Play will be available in Black and White colour variants, and will be on sale from 10pm today. The company is also offering some launch offers that will be valid till September 13. Those who purchase the device before this date will receive Rs. 15,000 Yatra e-cash from Yatra.com, and Rs. 300 cashback on the Moto Pulse 2 headphones. Buyers will also get 80 percent off on Kindle eBooks, up to a maximum of Rs. 500. Further, they also stand to get 100 percent cashback on the phone, if they purchase the device via the Amazon app.
At its price, the Moto G Play will go up against devices like the Xiaomi Redmi 3s Prime and Lenovo Vibe K5. While both devices feature 5-inch HD displays, the Redmi 3s Prime is powered by a Snapdragon 430 SoC and 3GB of RAM. The Redmi 3s Prime also offers 32GB of storage along with a 13MP rear camera. However, Moto smartphones are known to be among the first to update its smartphones to the newest version of Android, giving a unique edge over many competitors.
