Google-owned Motorola is all set to unleash the Moto G on the world today. The smartphone maker has a post on its Facebook page, which reads, “NamastÄ“, India! Register today for Wednesday’s global livestream and be the first to see Moto G”. The image on the post is that of the Taj Mahal with a lion and a peacock along with the Motorola “M” logo.
The Moto G has been around the rumour mills with leaked specifications and images. Leaked specifications of the smartphone include a 4.5-inch 720p display with Corning Gorilla Glass, 5MP rear camera and a 1.3MP video-calling camera. It has 8GB built-in storage. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8226 processor and Adreno 305 GPU.
The Moto G also made a brief appearance on the Amazon UK website for 159.99 British pounds (Rs. 16,100 approx.). The listing also showed a release date for the smartphone – November 14. The listing has since been removed.
The Moto X was the first smartphone launched by Motorola after search giant Google acquired it. The Moto X is a customizable smartphone and showcases some impressive features.
Considering the leaked specifications and the price point, the Moto G could be a good proposition for the Indian market. Although the smartphone will face stiff competition from established brands such as Xolo, Micromax, Lenovo and more that have a successful range of smartphones around Rs. 15,000.
