MoSync 3.0 Released

Updated on 09-Mar-2012

MoSync is an app development framework that anyone targeting multiple mobile platforms should be aware of.

With the large number of platforms available today software such as MoSync and PhoneGap can be quite useful as they allow a single code base to target multiple platforms at once.

MoSync supports a large number of platforms, including Android, iOS, Windows Phone 7, BlackBerry, Symbian, Windows Mobile, and even Moblin and J2ME. MoSync allows applications to be developed in either HTML and other web technologies or in C , or even a mixture of both; in either cast it can target multiple platforms. Unlike PhoneGap it allows one to develop apps with a native UI, using JavaScript.

The latest version of MoSync adds a number of new features of the SDK. First of all it expands support for Windows Phone 7 such that most MoSync features are now available on that platform. MoSync also added a new JavaScript API for using a device’s native UI for a more integrated experience. It now also support the PhoneGap API, so apps developed for PhoneGap can be developed using MoSync, and can now use MoSync features in addition to PhoneGap features.

MoSync 3 also features new APIs for notifications, SQL database, advertising, camera capture, and audio.

MoSync comes with its own IDE for Windows and Mac OSX, and is not only completely free, but also open source.
