RIM acquires Cellmania, mobile app store developer
RIM’s fresh-out-of-beta BlackBerry App World 2.0 has got a running start with the first BlackBerry 6 OS devices. Now, RIM has announced that has acquired Cellmania, an established app store developer (which developed stores for Sprint and Orange), presumably to help it maintain and improve BlackBerry App World 2.0. Windows Phone 7 to offer phone-to-console gaming and Twitter
A spokesperson from Microsoft confirmed a juicy nugget of information at recent Xbox event, that in the “near future” Windows Phone 7 devices will be able to support phone-to-console gaming. While this isn’t really something new, and has been spoken about before in our coverage of Windows Phone 7 and its Xbox Live gaming possibilities, this time around, you get to see a video, and, get a confirmation close to the date of the operating system’s release. Presumably, you will be able to play multiplayer games between your phone and your console, and if Microsoft is still sticking by its earlier guns of Live Anywhere, then you will also be able to play games on your phone that are synchronized with the companion game on your Xbox 360, allowing you to continue the story, extend your achievements, etc. of a single game on two devices. For now, these functionalities will only be available over a WiFi network, but that won’t be the case as network speeds improve.
The same spokesperson also went on to confirm that Twitter will not be a part of the phone natively, but will come as a third party application. “Twitter is not part of the base platform, but we’re working closely with a number of software developers to make sure we have a twitter experience… on or very shortly after launch.”

HTC Windows Phone 7 with sliding speaker
Another HTC Windows Phone 7 has been spotted, and no one knows what its name is…we’ll just have to content ourselves with a model number: HTC T8788. Now, no real specifications are known of the device, and rumours point towards it being released as an AT&T exclusive phone. The leaked pictures however reveal a very interesting detail, the phone is a slider, sure, but what slides out? Not a keyboard…instead, what is evidently a rather large speaker. It follows then that this WP7 phone will be targeted at a music/video loving audience.
