Xiaomi announced MIUI 11 with the launch of Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro last month. The company revealed a roadmap of Redmi devices that will be getting MIUI 11 this year and the Chinese phone manufacturer is sticking to it. The company released MIUI 11 for Redmi K20 Pro and Poco F1 last week. Now, Xiaomi has started rolling out MIUI 11 global stable update for the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A.
As per Xiaomi’s Mi Community forum, MIUI 11 for Redmi 6, MIUI 11.0.1.0.PCGMIXM is 508MB in size, whereas, the MIUI 11.0.4.0.PCBMIXM is 517MB in size. The new update brings a host of new features to the budget devices. Some of them are specifically designed for Indian users. Moreover, the update comes with the October 2019 Android security patch. It is worth noting that the MIUI 11 update for Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A is still based on Android 9 Pie and not Android 10.
MIUI 11 for Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A is rolling out gradually. Users can check for the update by heading over to Settings > About phone > System update. MIUI 11 for Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A brings new features like the new Minimalistic Design, Mi Share, Floating Calculator, Quick Replies, New Dynamic Sound Effects, Updated Mi File Manager, Steps Trackers and more.
Mi Share comes from the collaboration of Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo, which enables users for a cross-brand file transfer technology. It lets users transfer files quickly (up to 82Mbps), and can be found as Mi Share on MIUI 11. On the other hand, the new file manager shows each file as a thumbnail, similar to what you see on laptops and PCs, which makes it easier for users to find a document.
MIUI 11 is rolling out to devices as scheduled. You can check out when your Redmi device will get the MIUI 11 update here.
