It'll start with a 3GB/32GB base variant, though.

Microsoft's rumoured Surface Phone could offer up to 8GB of RAM and as much as 500GB of storage. According to a report by Mobipicker, the smartphone will have three different variants, the base variant is tipped to feature 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, while the second variant may offer 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The top variant is expected to sport 8GB of RAM and a colossal 500GB of storage. All three devices are expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 830 SoC. Further, the report notes that the phone may be priced at CNY 6,000 (approx. Rs. 61,200), although which variant will be available at this price is not known yet. The three devices are expected to launch sometime during Q1 2017.

It was already rumoured that the Surface Phone may feature 8GB of RAM and Qualcomm’s next flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 830. The chipset is tipped to be manufactured using the 10nm production process. Qualcomm's current flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 820, can support up to 6GB of RAM and is manufactured using Samsung’s 14nm FinFET process.

The Surface Phone may be Microsoft's last chance at showcasing the power of its Windows 10 Mobile OS. According to a report by Gartner, Windows Phone only has a 0.7% market share in the global smartphone market, in Q1 2016. A powerful device coupled with its Continuum feature may help Microsoft regain some of that market share.
