Microsoft to bring Cortana to India by ‘this summer’
Microsoft said that the English version of Cortana will be available in India 'this summer'.
Microsoft has just announced that its voice assistant Cortana will be coming to India this year. The company though hasn't confirmed a date yet, saying only that Cortana would be launched in English in India 'this summer', which means it will come pretty soon. Microsoft's voice assistant has been in the beta phase in India for a while now, with the company often saying it will be available in the country soon. Microsoft also announced that Cortana would be available in Australia, Japan and Canada at the same time as India.
While it is mere speculation right now, it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect Cortana in India as soon as possible, maybe even alongside the Windows 10 launch. Microsoft mentions in its announcement that Cortana will be made available in UK, US, China, France, Germany, Italy and Spain when Windows 10 is launched. That said, being one of the biggest and fastest growing markets in the world, Microsoft would want to bring the complete potential of its OS to India as soon as possible. This becomes even more plausible when you consider that Cortana is an integral part of Microsoft's Windows 10 platform.
Furthermore, Microsoft released Build 10240 a week ago, which will be the release-to-manufacture (RTM) build for Windows 10. Released in both Fast and Slow circles of the Windows Insider program, the Build 10240 will feature all the new features that Windows 10 is scheduled to have. Microsoft has also included New Delhi as one of the 13 cities to host the worldwide launch of Windows 10.
Microsoft has already announced that Windows 10 will be launched to the public on July 29, and that it will be a free update for users.
