The first preview build for Windows 10 is now available for phones. In a post on the Windows Blog, the company announced the first Technical Preview for Windows 10, which has been made available to users who registered for Microsoft’s Insider Program.
Of course, this is not a complete version of the OS, but it showcases some of the important new features of the new Windows version. Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore demonstrated some of these features via a YouTube video. The new version will bring extra quick settings options and a dynamic notification response option, similar to iOS. Users can now interact with a toast notification on Windows to reply directly to a text message, without having to actually open the app.
Further, Microsoft also wrote about other new features in Windows 10 for phones. These include a more powerful photos app, full sized background image for Start and enhanced speech functions.
What’s disappointing though is that the technical preview is only available for six Windows devices right now. Also, all of these are low to mid-ranged devices. Currently, only the Lumia 630, 635, 636, 638, 730 and the Lumia 830 will support Windows 10 Technical Preview. Of course, other devices will be added in the future, but only users of these six devices can try the Technical Preview for now.
