Microsoft has announced its new productivity tool, Microsoft 365 Copilot that will be available for use in two ways. The first is through integration with Microsoft 365's most popular apps, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. The second is through a new application called Business Chat which is also announced with Copilot. Business Chat will allow customers to interact with Copilot across their calendar, emails, chats, documents, meetings, and contacts.
“Copilot combines the power of large language models with your data and apps to turn your words into the most powerful productivity tool on the planet,” said Jared Spataro, Corporate Vice President of Modern Work and Business Applications, at Microsoft. “By grounding in your business content and context, Copilot delivers results that are relevant and actionable. It’s enterprise-ready, built on Microsoft’s comprehensive approach to security, compliance, privacy and responsible AI. Copilot marks a new era of computing that will fundamentally transform the way we work.”
Copilot's integration with Microsoft 365's apps will enable customers to be more creative and productive in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
Copilot in Word will be able to write, edit, summarise, and create alongside users as they work. Copilot in PowerPoint will enable users to turn their ideas into a designed presentation through natural language commands, while Copilot in Excel will help users unlock insights, identify trends, or create professional-looking data visualisations in a fraction of the time.
Copilot will also be available through Business Chat, which will bring together data from across a customer's documents, presentations, emails, calendar, notes, and contacts to help summarise chats, write emails, find key dates, or even write a plan based on other project files.
Microsoft 365 Copilot is already being tested with a small group of customers to get the critical feedback required to improve these models as they scale. The details on pricing and licensing will be shared soon, Microsoft said.
