Micromax is expected to launch a 5-inch dual-SIM smartphone in the Indian market. The device is supposedly called the A100 and is priced at Rs. 9,999.
The device is listed on HomeShop18.com but the current availability appears as out of stock. On the listing page, the MRP of the device is shown as Rs. 13,500 but is being offered at a discount making the price Rs. 9,999. According to the HomeShop18 page, the specifications of the device are as follows:
- 5 MP camera with video recording
- Flash light
- Android 4.0.4 (ICS)
- 3G connectivity
- Dual-SIM with dual standby
- Screen size : 5.0-inch
- YouTube
- Social Networking

- EDGE, GPS
- Wi-Fi
- FM Radio
- Bluetooth (A2DP)
- Memory card support up to 8GB
- 3.5mm jack
- Battery Type: Li-Ion 1800mAh
From the above mentioned specs, we can see that the device runs on Android 4.0 ICS straight out of the box. Another sub-Rs. 10k device is the Spice Stellar (read our review), which runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread straight out of the box but is upgradable to ICS. Just like the plethora of budget phones, the A100 is a dual-SIM phone.
The information that is not available via the listing, are details of the processor, RAM, and GPU. It also looks like the listing of the phone has been pulled from the HomeShop18 site for now. The Micromax A100 is a not-too-lightweight device, weighing in at 168 grams, but is relatively slim at 11.8mm. The device may be unveiled by Micromax on Friday.
