Micromax has found a way to make its dual-core Tegra 2-powered and Android 2.2 Froyo-based handset, the Micromax Superfone A85, a more attractive proposition – by drastically dropping its price. Launched at Rs. 18,990, the Superfone A85 will now retail for Rs. 3,700 less, at Rs. 15,290.
While criticisms of the phone’s dated operating system still hold true, even at this price segment, the move by Micromax has made the A85’s primary USP, a dual-core CPU, that much more alluring. Notably, the Superfone A85 also has a gesture control interface, something relatively novel in the market.
The news of the Superfone A85’s price cut comes days after the Samsung Galaxy R, also Tegra 2 powered, received a substantial price cut, and is now retailing for Rs. 20,999 on Flipkart.com.
